An attempted homicide was reported on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 8, 2026, near a small market located close to the Dr. Edvaldo Gomes Prison in Petrolina, in the Sertão region of Pernambuco.

According to reports, the victim was surprised by the assailant and received a stab wound to the neck. Even wounded, she survived the attack and even managed to fight back. The moment of the fight was recorded by the establishment's security cameras.

There is no official information regarding the victim's health status or the identity of the assailant. Police teams have been dispatched and will investigate the case to determine the circumstances and motivation behind the crime.
