movies Mr Inbetween

I came across the little gem only last week. On Binge.

Plot is about a man who is a sociopath with a social conscience. Father of a young daughter, divorced, works as an independant hit man for hire.

It's a series with 3 seasons. I could hardly stop watching it.

Aussie drama but its humerous although very black.

The main character is an ex army guy. He's very smart but humble and respectful in the way really hard men are who know they don't have to prove themselves to anyone. I've worked with a few in the office of corrections in Aus. Guys who've been let out on parole after extended gaol time. Always polite but there's a hidden something in them that you know you just never want to find out about...

I binged the entire series in a weekend. I didn't want it to end. It was BRILLIANT. The guy who plays the main role is a comedian called Scott Ryan who also wrote and directed many of the episodes. I had to check him out and found that the series is a serialized version of his move The Magician (2005) . I managed to get a copy and LOVED that too.
Someone KINDLY uploaded that movie to YT. Here is the link.

Glad you liked it! I loved it.

Some great lines in it like 'what are you in for?'

'Rape. But not women, only men...'

There was a French movie called 'Man bites dog' about a serial killer and a documentry film crew who followed him around. Then they get into a fire fight with another serial killer and his film crew... subtitles, very good watch.

I watched it like a year ago, luckily I saw the magician first so got it in the right order, and understood the reference when he went to ask more time for Freddie’s debt to the gangster
I thought the film was terrible (but it actually explained a few things from the series, like why he took the job on Vince), that’s what kept me off watching the series for a while, but glad I did in the end

I've watched a bit of the magician but like you found it very rough.

I understand the seed of fhe character though.

In it he explains that he takes the hit on mates so he knows it’s done with dignity and they don’t suffer, plus if a hit goes out it’s gunna be done no matter what he thinks,
Which is kinda nice,

I'm glad you persevered with it :)

Yeah The Magician is VERY rough around the edges, they had a tiny budget so made it like a found footage movie. You can certainly see where it wanted to go.

He wrote and produced both the movie and the series. I loved the scene where he says he doesn't answer questions. They ask if there is someone there that does. He says I don't answer questions. Cops goes, I don't know how to respond to that. Or something along those lines.
