I've always said that anyone in the legal system or law enforcement should receive mandatory double sentences for any crime they commit versus a civilian sentence.

"Disturbing footage shows a police officer repeatedly slapping a suicidal patient in the face as he lays on a hospital bed.

Ruben McAusland, 27, is seen in a video putting on white latex gloves and delivering two sickening strikes against the defenseless man.
The blows are so hard that blood sprays onto the bed, leaving the patient with multiple facial wounds and an eye injury that needed surgery.

A colleague who filmed the assault encourages the dirty officer in New Jersey, USA, by saying: "Do it! Do it!".

McAusland unleashed the attack after "losing his temper", according to New Jersey state prosecutor Craig Carpenito.

The victim, identified as Andrew Casiano, had been taken to St Joseph's Regional Medical Centre by firefighters where he was met by McAusland and his colleague, Roger Then, 29, in March 2018.
Before the recorded attack, officers pushed Casiano as he sat in a wheelchair while in the waiting room and punched him in the face.

McAusland, who worked for the Paterson Police Department, pleaded guilty last year to selling heroin and crack cocaine which he had stolen from a crime scene and sold to another person in law enforcement.
A court in Newark, New Jersey, sentenced McAusland to more than five years in jail for the drug dealing offence and for the assault.

He also faces three year supervised release and must pay his victim $32,892 in compensation.

“Through prosecutions like this one, police officers like McAusland — who dealt drugs, stole from a crime scene, and viciously attacked a person who sought help from the Paterson Police Department — are removed from positions where they can violate the public trust and deprive others of their civil rights under color of law,” Carpenito said in his statement."

Probably settled $100k just for starters.. with more to come.
