Parkes On The Podium At First Time Of Asking

WSS, Phillip Island, Australia, 27 February 2011
A spectacularly exciting Supersport World Championship race saw Broc Parkes only 0.009 seconds from his first Kawasaki WSS race win, after 21 laps of intense competition.

The 4.445km Phillip Island circuit specialises in delivering astounding spectacles in this class, and from first to last Parkes and pole position man David Salom were vying for the lead on their Ninja ZX-6R machines, along with several other riders.

Salom was a convincing leader at one point, but he faded towards the end as his front tyre had given its best and he had to settle for fourth, only 0.272 seconds from the win.

Parkes had his own issues to overcome as his brake fluid reservoir came loose and he had to drop back to readjust it, before rejoining the fight for what would have been a popular home town win for the Provec Motocard.com team’s Aussie rider.

On balance it was a great start to the championship campaign for the entire team, and the 2011 series promises many more opportunities for both Parkes and Salom to shine.

Vittorio Iannuzzo (Lorenzini by Leoni Kawasaki) had a great debut for his new squad, finishing eighth and scoring good championship points in the process.

Broc Parkes: “We were in with a chance right to the very end, and took a podium. I felt very good on the bike and I was trying to get into a rhythm. I had a little problem when my brake reservoir came loose and I had to tuck it into the fairing, so I dropped back to seventh for a bit. From there I decided to go with it and I picked the boys off at the front one by one. When it is that close you know the season is going to be good!”

David Salom: “I had a good race but then a lot of slides from my front tyre, so it was not possible to enter the corners properly. For ten laps it was good, but after that the bike started to slide a bit and it was not possible to go as fast in the corner entries. I am pleased to have been right there but I think we could have had challenged for the race win, and we could easily have had two Kawasaki riders on the podium.”

Sykes Gives New Ninja ZX-10R A Solid Race Debut

WSBK, Phillip Island, Australia, 27 February 2011
Tom Sykes ended the opening raceday of the year with two strong top ten finishes on the 2011 Ninja ZX-10R, and is overall eighth in the championship standings as the series leaves Australia.

Tom, starting from tenth place on the grid, was eighth in the first 22-lap contest, and then ninth on race two. After heavy overnight rains and a wet-warm-up, raceday itself was dry and sunny, but the rains changed the track characteristics from those of practice or the recent IMS tests. This led to changes to set-up being made between the races, when more data had been gathered.

Joan Lascorz showed strong pace at times in his Superbike racing debut, but a fall in race one and a lack of strength thereafter eventually saw him pull out of the second race. Lascorz had opted for a soft rear tyre in the second race, which proved to be not the optimum choice, although it helped with manoeuvrability in the early laps.

The team now returns to its regular base in Europe and all the PBM team members will now face a home round in the UK, at Donington Park between 25 and 27 March.

Roby Rolfo (Kawasaki Pedercini Team) had two very impressive rides in his return to World Superbike, taking his Ninja ZX-10R to one 11th and one 12th place finish, and overall 12th in the standings. Bryan Staring, a wild card rider for Pedercini, was 15th in race one, scoring one point.

Tom Sykes: “We got two top nine positions and an eighth overall in the championship so it is probably not a bad start. In race one I got a good run off the line but I was not able to go with the other riders in the early laps. I caught them back up at the end. In race two I could not engage neutral coming up to the line, so that did not help my race start and I was well back in the order. The changes we made for race two were good; I had better grip. I faded a bit in the middle and came very strong again at the end. If I had got away clean, I am sure a sixth position would have been on the cards. No ifs and buts, it is still a new bike and everybody is realistic, we know where we need to improve and we are looking forward to even brighter things.”

Joan Lascorz: “I had the pace early in the first race and was quite happy but then I ran off the track, because I had some chatter and had to run straight on at turn nine. I was heading for the wall and I fell off on the grass. In the second race it was impossible to finish because I was in a lot of pain and had no power in my body. In race two we had changed the bike and put in a soft rear tyre, and it made it easier to turn. I could make a good pace again, but then it started sliding. Overall, I have to look to the next race but I feel we showed that we have some good pace but in races it was difficult today. I am building for the next race at Donington, working to be fully ready.”

MZ riders Neukirchner and West to start 2011 on different chassis

Wednesday, 2 March 2011
The German rider will start the 2011 Moto2 campaign on an FTR whilst his Australian team-mate will continue with the team’s own evolution chassis.

MZ factory riders Max Neukirchner and Anthony West will use two different chassis at the last official pre-season Test at Jerez (March 4th-6th) and at the season-opening Grand Prix of Qatar (March 20th). West, who rode the first ever Moto2 World Championship for MZ in 2010 and scored three top ten positions for the German brand, will use MZ's very own evolution chassis with a steel tubular trellis frame and a modified rear wheel suspension. Max Neukirchner, who rode in the World Superbike Championship and joined MZ at the end of the 2010 season to form a two-rider-team, will test and race a British FTR chassis.
The original plan to supply both riders with the latest Moto2 chassis from MZ, which was designed over the winter months and incorporates a milled steering head and a milled swingarm mount within the tubular trellis frame, had to be postponed due to a delay in manufacturing of some of the parts.
"Our new chassis will also be the base of the street replica of our Moto2 prototype. But there are things in the development process of a fully roadworthy bike that you just can't speed up", said MZ CEO Martin Wimmer. "Therefore, we had to find an interim solution that would enable our riders to compete on a high level in the first race."
After looking closely at the available options, an FTR chassis from 2010 was the obvious choice. "Karel Abraham won the last race of the 2010 season with this type of chassis", said Wimmer. "We know what can be achieved with this bike, and we will make the best of the situation carefully analysing and comparing the data of both riders. There could be some interesting details that might help us to further improve the MZ chassis.”

Second day at Sepang sees Honda top by midday

Wednesday, 23 February 2011
Repsol Honda trio Dani Pedrosa, Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso occupied the top three spots on the timesheet by the midway stage of day two at the Sepang Test. Absent from the session with illness was Valentino Rossi.

Day two at Sepang started in the spirit of giving as the MotoGP riders gathered at 9.30am local time to present a cheque for the funds raised by the 'RM2 or More' programme, but when the business of on-track action got underway the Repsol Honda riders were in focused mood as they topped the timesheet by the midway point of the middle day of the Test.
Leading the way was Dani Pedrosa with a scorching lap of 2'00.229, surpassing Valentino Rossi's 2009 circuit best lap by almost three-tenths of a second as he took his RC212V round at a lightning pace.
Unfortunately for Rossi his participation on day two has so far been curtailed by a fever, which forced the Ducati rider to spend some time in the Clinica Mobile before returning to his hotel without having ridden a lap. The Italian may return to the circuit later in the afternoon if his condition improves.
No such hindrances for the remaining two factory Honda riders Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso, who at +0.113s and +0.302s down on Pedrosa ensured an all-Repsol Honda top three, with Factory Yamaha Racing pair Ben Spies (+0.595s) and Jorge Lorenzo (+0.702s) the only other two to get under the 2'01” marker in the earlier half of the day as they completed the top five by that stage.
San Carlo Honda Gresini pair Marco Simoncelli and Hiroshi Aoyama followed as they underlined the strength of the RC212V, the Italian the final rider to get within a second of Pedrosa. Colin Edwards (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) and Álvaro Bautista (Rizla Suzuki) also recorded early top-ten times, with Nicky Hayden the highest placing Ducati in tenth and at 1.979s off the top time.
A quartet of Desmosedicis followed Hayden in Héctor Barberá (Mapfre Aspar), Randy de Puniet, Loris Capirossi (both Pramac Racing) and Karel Abraham (Cardion AB Motoracing), whilst Toni Elías (LCR Honda) and rookie Cal Crutchlow (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) completed the timesheet.

what so it runs only in gear 1? ffs stop pushing it with your legs and let the bike runs with the engine!

what is so difficult with gear mechanism? do u use steel belt or rubber belt? do bikes use steel belt? lulz
or its just pedal problems?

imo transmission is one of the most simple mechanism. u managed to built a bike and now whats wrong with the gears?

Having seen your picture, old one, i'd have thought you'd be on four wheels and the engine would be electric, assuming you could afford one, or your carer, if you couldn't.

Nice to see you're getting into the swing of it but try a few 'during the war' s next, or maybe pissing your pants in the supermarket. Only then will you get to be the finished article.

i would trade my car for that bike man, assuming it can switch to all the gears lol
