NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- A convicted sex offender acted as if he was trying to help a woman, only to rape and strangle her nearly to death.
Police say 50-year-old Reginald Eugene Gregory offered to help a 60-year-old disabled woman who is a wheelchair-bound dialysis patient.
The woman was on an MTA bus with groceries when Gregory offered to help her down the street with her groceries. Once they got to the doorway of her apartment, Gregory "dumped her out of her wheelchair. While on the ground, the defendant then began to choke her around the neck with both hands."
Despite her cries to "leave her alone," Gregory then carried her to her room and raped her. The woman says the act caused severe pain to her abdomen. She asked Gregory to get her a drink at the store and called 911 once he left.
Police arrested Gregory in a parking lot off the 300 block of S. Gallatin Pike. Gregory is on community supervision for life for a previous sex offense.
