the downside of solitude.

The solitude after raising 5 kids as a single parent (2 not even mine), is wonderful. Knowing my kids can hold their own makes me a happy man. Not a crackhead kid in the pile; all successful.

I could have had them all living in the basement still, and been sad as fuck on Christmas. But I did it the hard way.

Crock pot meat loaf, we have it every year. Pork and beef with a layer of hash brown potatoes on the bottom. The meat is mixed with cream of mushroom soup, onions and carrots.
Then topped with cream of celery soup and cooked about 8 hours on low. Freaking delicious, but extremely rich. Really good, but once a year is about all I can take.

Is this cold for your area/state? Some regions here have very unusual deep temperatures atm, down to -10°F and more. Not speaking of the higher mountains, they're always very cold in winter.
