🍔Remember These?🍔

I remember Tastee Freeze.

There are still a few Tastee-Freez locations, but only a few.
Oddly enough, they still have locations in Alaska ... like them folks aren't cold enough already.
But, they also did Corn Dogs and Burgers, etc.

Oh shit I didn't know they were still around. They're definitely not in Florida anymore. Thanks for letting me know.

Shoney's - added info:
As of 2026, there are approx. 50 locations, mainly in Tennessee, Georgia, and West Virginia, but
there are others, scattered about.

My Grandfather owned 3 sit down and eat type restaurants, years ago (they weren't Shoney's.)
My Great Uncle owned 2 others. I used to work in one of his, while in college, because it was nearby.

I own stocks in a number of Restaurant chains, which is why this type stuff interests me.
Everyone has to eat.

I worked at a Burger King when I was 16 for about an hour. Some dude got mad about his food and threw it at to which I responded by jumping the counter, kicking him in the balls and then stomping his face when he hit the ground. Went to work in construction and never looked back. Customer service is not a skill I possess.

Yeah, it's not glorious work, a lot more abusive customers nowadays, I'm sure.

I wouldn't do it again, but you can make some decent money. Working with the
public isn't easy, if they've had a bad day, they'll take it out on you and you have
to remain chill ... Unless it's a Robbery !

Shoney's started out as a Burger Joint, but expanded into their more famous All You Can Eat
Breakfast and Lunch Food Bars, one of the first Restaurants to offer such.

Shoney's isn't gone, but they have gone form 1,800 locations to about 60.
I liked them too.

Is that guy the mascot for Shoney's?? I'm from Southern California and that exact same dude was the mascot for 'Bob's Big Boy' restaurants lol, just weird that he's been recycled apparently

Bob's and Shoney's used the same Mascot ( Big Boy ) and signature menu items but,
operated independently.
They were related entities under the same parent franchise system.

Bob's dominated the West Coast, while Shoney's (originally the Parkette) operated as
a separate, licensed Big Boy franchisee in the South.

The MAIN Thing that killed Shoney's ... but you're probably hearing it here, first.
( They'd never officially admit it )

At many, poorly managed locations:

After people ate up the Breakfast Bar ... (too many people) would then linger, drinking coffee, etc,
then proceed to (also) Pillage/Maul the Lunch Food Bar too = (grazing like cows.)
Eating Twice for the single Breakfast Bar price.

Mainly - older folks doing this, so they looked the other way, for a while - but it drove them under.
In Black and Low-Rent Areas, people would leave with additional extra meals, stuffed into purses, etc.
So, now you have people eating Three Meals for the single Breakfast Bar price.

If you could talk to Cancer, it would claim it's Winning, but it kills the Host.
