‘Ghost disease’ spreading in North Korea as children born without anuses, toes or hands near nuke test site

Youngran Lee, who escaped the country in 2015, alleged children are being born without anuses, toes, or hands due to the effects of radiation.

Youngran lived in Kilju County, near the Punggye-ri test site, before fleeing North Korea.

She said doctors in the region felt powerless in the face of the mysterious disease striking children.

Youngran said: “In Kilju county, civilians are suffering from diseases, not knowing why.

“In hospitals, doctors cannot diagnose it, and the patients are dying slowly with lingering illness It is not too drastic to say that having a child without an anus, toes, or hands was normalised in Kilju.

"There are patients with various cancers in every other house.”

It's not the first time reports of the mysterious "ghost disease" have emerged, with other defectors revealing how residents near Punggye-ri are suffering from exposure to radiation in 2017.

Youngran, who lived so close to the blast zone that her home physically shook during North Korea’s nuclear test in 2013, recalled the detonation.



She said: “On the day the third nuclear test took place, a wall clock fell, and light bulbs shook. I thought it was an earthquake and ran outside.

“All my neighbours were out as well. Shortly after that, at midday, the main broadcasting system announced that the third nuclear test was successful.

Your anus is the muscle ring that lets a person hold poop inside, then release it later during a bowel movement. He didn't say butt hole. Maybe they have a butt hole, just can't control it. I think he means they just leak poo all the time perhaps.
How would the parents know though since kids wear diapers sometimes until after the age of 3 even?

I'm doubtful too just because it's the DPRK but even if there's a cluster of cases like this article says, who's to say it's not from too much imbreeding or a genetic link that scientists in the world just haven't figured out it's genetic yet? Children have been born without anuses in the world where there's been no nuclear testing. It's actu
ally not even super rare and it's referred to as an imperforate anus &/or an anorectal malformation (I knew a couple who had a kid born like that & it was most likely due to the mum smoking during pregnancy their pediatrician).
The cancers could be caused by some non-nuclear fallout type contamination.

I understand where you guys are coming from but it’s a regime like North Korea it’s best to assume the worse. Also you said it could be from another form of contamination and if that’s true the Kim family regime is still at fault.

Also a point I just thought of. We, meaning America, contaminated people with radiation and we are a democracy and supposed to care more about human life. If we did it I don’t doubt that the NK are doing it.
