Keyonna Waddell, 35, of Deer Park, N.Y., and her boyfriend were in an argument at his apartment.
Prosecutors said that after the argument, the boyfriend left the apartment and told Waddell to leave as well.
When he returned, she didn't seem to be there and he went to bed.
"He was awoken by a hissing sound and saw a flame on the floor of his bedroom," the D.A.'s office said.
"Upon getting up, he realized that an object resembling a stick of dynamite had been thrown into his bedroom.
He attempted to extinguish the explosive device, which was unsuccessful."
Waddell's boyfriend tried to throw the dynamite stick out of the room, but it detonated, while in his hand.
At the hospital, the victim had to have the rest of his hand and part of his arm amputated.
Waddell was arrested the following day ...
Prosecutors subsequently learned that she had previously threatened her boyfriend with dynamite multiple times,
in the months preceding the incident.
