I did till two years ago, when all the shark attacks were happening, also have a fucked neck which was making it hard...Just swim most days now(body surf)...have been going to the beach since I was a toddler...Went for a swim today as I work arvo till 9.30 on Wednesdays...I live in an area of Australia that has some of the best and world renowned point breaks...

Sharks are scary, but when I was younger from about 10 onwards, I surfed every day and never even thought about sharks...There was less of them. But they have been protected for over 40 years now, and there is now lots of them(great whites)...The humpback whales are back to pre whaling numbers and the whites follow them up and down the coast, which now means they are coming into areas with surfers...I have mates that don't care and keep surfing...Had a mate that had one go under him and he said it was over 5 metres long and as round as a school bus...My last surf, the water was a greeny colour, and it was a couple of days after a guy had just died from a shark attack. I was sitting out the back and I couldn't see into the water much and I just lost my nerve...swimming feels okay, cause I am not out the back...
