That's actually protocol. If you get shot on the job. It's up to you to tourniquet yourself immediately and drag yourself to a safer position if you can until the threat is confirmed neutralized. Never except the guy next to you t drop their gun and take it off the suspect until then. It's your responsibility.

This is to stop police from hesitating and choosing when a suspect might not be out of the fight just yet. A couple shots doesn't always take a guy out immediately and people have gotten hurt hesitating when someone next to them have gotten shot. They check the welfare of everybody afterwards though.
