A tribal initiation rite maybe? I remember reading once in a novel that for a boy to be deemed a man he had to put his hand in a fire ant nest for 11 hours to prove how brave he is to 'level up'. I thought that was silly, but if this is the tribal custom shown here I'd take fire ant land any day. Or not existing at all in all honesty.
