For me, the Silent Hill series, particularly the first three titles as they were the classic SH experience.

Fuck Konami for cancelling Silent Hills, that game would've been so fucking scary and awesome, being in first-person.

What was the best game you ever played, and what made it the best?

Borderlands series for me, I just loved going around looting all the equipment, found it fun to grind and upgrade my gear along the way, good replayability too

Rimworld. Thousands of hours from 1.2 to 1.3, pirated. Bought basegame with all dlcs few months after 1.4 release, and now I should be somewhere around thousand hours on legal copy only.

It is just great game. Also, Planetside2 and Cities:Skylines.
Fallout Tactics (well I'm concrete player, 1&2 too), Supreme Commander FA, Simcity4, Neverwinter Nights 1&2 these are the games I always end up coming back to. I should also mention 8th wonder of the world, funny little chilly game to kill time
