For some reason, I envisioned a regiment of Confederate State Guard in Georgia cornering a large group of cowardly Yankee railroad and barn burners sometime in the late summer of 1864 and after a brief skirmish, the cowardly bluebellies who had never gotten fired upon until now got herded into a watery ravine just like this one and were slaughtered with volley after volley by the Confederates standing above, no quarter given. Just blast after blast of musket and carbine fire until no movement could be seen in the pool anymore.
