I've worked with two in my career as a social worker. The last one, a guy with mental health issues (don't they fucking all?) I sat with him as his 'Mental Health Support Person' whilst he was questioned by police. He explained in great detail how he taught young boys to masturbate. He was about 60 at the time. When i got home that night I felt so dirty even the fucking shower did not clean it away, despite scrubbing, something I don't do unless I've been working under my 4x4.
The other one was a retired guy who I worked with at the start of my career. He had become drunk "and the next thing you know is the kiddies pants are down..." I was counselling him for alcohol abuse. as the sessions mounted up I realised that all his 'friends' were males much younger than he was and some where bringing their kids to see him...
I was naive then.
But one thing I did learn quickly is that these guys are not creepy, weird looking guys, they have loads of social skills, a sparkle in their eye, great talkers etc. That's how they get close to kids. Often by befriending single mums they meet at the welfare office.
It's the nice guys you need to watch out for, not the grumpy old fuckers who might look at bit odd as any kid would run a mile.
In Aus we call them 'rock spiders' as they hide like that trap door spider that was posted here the other day, hide in plain sight until the victim walks past...
I can't work with them anymore, as soon as I had kids I requested no more of them. No longer objective... How the cops who work the cyber abuse stuff on line do their work I'll never know.
