He probably wouldn't have gotten hurt if he was wearing a cowboy hat and no body armor like they did in my day. Not that I was ever hillbilly enough to try to ride a bull. Most rodeo events like bareback bronc riding, calf roping and steer wrestling have their roots in legitimate ranch duties. Bull riding? Not sure when that was ever necessary.
