I feel like the angle of that shot and his body reacting to it indicates he died long before he got to hospital. It really looks like the bullet did spinal damage and possibly spun upwards into the back of the head. I mean, how many videos have we seen on here where someone gets shot in the neck and are still semi mobile before collapsing. Maybe it was the caliber that makes this one so much worse, but all that being said. The hole was big enough and damage severe enough to send that much blood out that quickly, doesnt line up with reports in the media about how he was in critical condition before passing at the hospital.

He was pretty much dead by the time his body hit the ground. Brain lost all the blood/pressure and he blacked out. Brain death would have been under 3 minutes.

It’s not a common round except for hunters so, the FBI and all them know this and anyone who sold 30-06 ammo, will most likely know who they sold it to.

Wow im impressed and aroused...I wanted to get technical too. I own a POF rifle with a 1/8 twist rate with a 16 inch barrel. I need to shoot for grouping size , i heard that heavier 77 grain bullets do better with a higher twist rate rather than 55 grain bullets. Even with high rated body amor 30 06 black tip ammunition is still going through. Charlie got hit in the neck I know. The extra security wouldn't have saved kirk but it would have lead to the elimination or apprehension of the killer. Stay strapped people

Caliber and weight matter, but velocity is king! A huge bullet going slow doesn’t necessarily beat a small bullet going fast in the destruction category. There is also something called cavitation and hydrostatic shock. These phenomena cause extensive tissue damage and are a result of velocity, not bullet weight. Not the type of damage that blows tissue out of the exit wound, the type of damage that liquifies organs like spleens and livers.

I’m not getting into what Kirk was killed with. I haven’t seen the info. I’m just saying that small and fast can be as, or even more destructive than large and slow. Clearly a .308 or 3006 with 150-180 grain delivers more energy to target than a 5.56 with 55 grain.
