- A man drove a vehicle through the front doors of a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building today in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, before opening fire.
- The suspect has been identified as Thomas Jacob Sanford, 40, according to officials. He exited the vehicle and began firing rounds at people who were attending Sunday service, police said. The shooter used an assault rifle.
- At least five people are dead and eight are injured, authorities said. The suspect was also killed in the shooting.
- Authorities said a fire, believed to have been deliberately set by the gunman, also broke out at the church. The blaze has been extinguished, and investigators say more victims maybe be found inside.
- As many as three improvised devices were found at the scene, according to two senior U.S. law enforcement officials briefed on the investigation.

The Church of the LDS had a pretty large "Colony" in Mexico up until this century, I haven't heard much about it lately. But I interviewed once for a security company that worked the compounds of the Walled, Gated Community. That was back in 2010. It's an up-armored job, like working the Saudi or Omani Oil fields. But the pay was trash, just tax free.
Maybe he wants it rebuilt even better.
These types of events always bring the community closer together. So as horrible as this is, maybe some good will come out of it.
