I fish from a boat as well as the bank. In certain rivers I’m up to my waist but in fast moving water (steelhead, salmon, trout). I know how to swim, but I will NEVER get in or on water without at a PFD on. Water doesn’t fuck around. River bottoms go from gentle slopes to immediate drop offs. If you don’t know how to swim stay the fuck on the shore.
