Updated CPR technique - you can do just chest compressions. Since SARS C-19, you do not have to do mouth-to-mouth anymore. It’s up to the rescuer.
If I had to guess, he gasped or showed them he was breathing in some way. You don’t keep doing chest compressions if there’s any hint of breathing.
