Actually domestic rats are great pets. I had a couple. They'd climb all over me, get up and open my mouth and make sure no food was between my teeth and pull any bits out with their tiny hands. Cute actually. Friendly and very intelligent.

Mind you, I use traps and bait to keep the wild fuckers out of my chook house. They actually chewed through my aluminium feed container. Sharp teeth...
