I fired 100 rounds with the M60 in basic training. It was on a bipod, I was on my belly, and it seems like it pushed me back about 6 feet. That wouldn't happen now.

Ummmm no, I think I actually would have been pretty insulted if they did. It was hard enough as it is pushing back against all of the existing stereotypes re the disparity between female and male Marines. I wore the pink in my off time😁

Oh, Marines. Yeahhhh, dont know nothin' bout' that. I was Army signal corps. We didnt do a lot of grunt work lol.

When I was in basic at Ft. Jackson, we had the first female army DI in my batallion. She was exactly as you'd expect from a Drill Instructor.

Nothing pink. Basic for me was 1979. Not sure, but I think we were still fighting Indians.

In basic, I got a six second try at the M60 lol. Pulled the trigger, my world erupted, opened my eyes and the tracers are billowing out like a shogun spread. I was aiming for a tank and got only dirt plumes from the rear wall.
