I've broken plenty of side mirrors ... but I've never been stupid enough to do it when going the same direction as the person who put me in danger.
Most of them under the same tunnel where I have right of way, and where people, despite seeing me, accelerate as I'm entering the narrowing section to force me onto the sidewalk.

This. Most laws people have to their house applies to the car. Don't detain the car with a wheel bind, don't jump onto the car, don't hit the car, don't try to force your way into a car. It gives the other driver every right to get the hell out of dodge and defend themselves and their property, even if the danger is still directly in front of the vehicle or on top of the car.
