You like your history right @Cold Ethyl ?

So Lucy Is 3.2 million years old found in Ethiopia, thought to be one of the first hominids yes? Giving us the “out of Africa” stuff
Well they have now found a couple of fossilised teeth in Germany that they say date back to 9.7 million years ago, so we all might be nazis after all 😂

Well I’m sceptical to say the least and here’s why,Lucy is 3.2 million years old ? So how come they know she’s called Lucy ?
I think they found her wallet close by or something

The bi-pedal ape lineage isn't lineal, it's braided with many interactions, false starts, dead ends and re-interactions - an increasingly complex model.
9.7 million years is a pretty big jump - they'll need to fill the 6 million years in to link it together, big "discoveries" need big evidence. Theorectically the teeth should be much larger. There are a fair amount of discoveries that call the "Out of Africa" theory into question but they're likely anomolous offshoots but may be contributing factors still. Genetics potentially links homo sapians back to the genetic bottle neck event which was traced to Africa from memory.
9.7 million year old teeth will be primate no doubt, potentially a nazi primate though, they'll need to find further evidence, associated bones etc. Interesting. The Neanderthals were discovered in Germany too.

Excellent reply. It’s not really a family tree it’s more like a bush

Didn’t they find the earliest “modern human” in Morocco
They have found lots of ancient bones older than Lucy tho, but because they don’t walk like a main then they discredit it, think there was one something like 6.6 million years old which on land walked on 2 legs but used all 4 up in the trees
But seem to want to discredit anything that doesn’t go along the “out of Africa” theory

I think we dropped out of the trees in a number of different places, food availability being a factor.

You're correct, there is big push back looking at other Genesis events other than the out of Africa model. Science gets pressured like any other industry. There have been hoaxes trying to prove a Euro-centric origin too. China and Israel are making regular discoveries furthering thier claims. New stuff crops up sporadically but big claims need big evidence. Politics is always honest.

Part of the issue is that there isn't really a specific point when one species becomes distinct from another. Compulsion and ability to breed is generally the governing factor but that's not absolute ie Homo Sapians interbreeding with Denisovans > Homo Neanderthalus etc. The point is, there is no "missing link" or "earliest modern human", only examples of vague difference cross over till they become specifically identifiable. Even then there is huge scope for anomolus variance within the grouping. Think of the canine species, the variance between a Bulldog & Racing Hound but they're part of the same group. If you dug those fuckers up in a million years you wouldn't think they were part of the same crew. Or African wild dogs or hyena's goig back in time to Andrewsarchus (it's a fucking scary dog like animal with a non-threatening suburban name) which looks like a pit bull on steroids but is more closely related to camels from memory.

The only way we'll ever really know for sure is when we make further advances in genetics interpretation - it is steadily reaching further back in time though, we've broken the 1 million year range now.

Or just ask ChatGPT. We'll be extinct soon anyway.

A bush that dropped some acid and thinks it's an octopus fighting it's reflection in a mirror
