bizarre Hunting With Eagles

@Harumph The art of raptor hunting began on the ancient Tibetan plateau where nomadic hunter gatherers would forage the vast steppe for food. The art spread to China around 400 B.C. and was documented as a past time of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Famous for his terracotta army and vast tomb, recent excavations of the emperor's burial mound have revealed several mummified raptors in sarcophagi carved of solid jade - signifying their high status and value. The largest raptor species known to have been used by humans was the Harpy Eagle, with a wingspan of 7 feet, it was capable of killing prey up the size of adult male deer, small elk, or antelope. The Harpy Eagle is the largest bird of prey on Earth still to this day and has been described by some as a living stinger missle (picture below).

I've seen harpy eagles hunting monkeys, picking them out of trees in the jungle and dropping them from heights to kill them, bald eagles doing the same to turtles, too. I have always been a fan of our nature's raptors! :)

Nothing's funnier than a monkey mindlessly swinging from the branches only to be suddenly whisked away and eaten by what would be the equivalent of a dragon to them.
