We are getting ready here in Jacksonville Beach, FL. Living just a few blocks from the ocean it makes it a bit concerning. I went thru Andrew in South Florida back in 1992 and these storms being category 4 or maybe 5 could cause a lot of destruction. Watching about the evacuation orders since once they issue it, if you don't leave you are fucked. They will close the bridges and you have nowhere to go. I will keep you all posted with pictures and other info.
I've got family down there... Hoping to hear from them soon. I bet if I was on facebook I'd know if they were in the shit or not already.
Was worried about this one in MD, but it looks like it'll miss us for the most part. Hope everyone in the path makes out alright, this one is a bitch. Stay safe.

Ok I finally got back to the office. Just some water issue here which my landlord is getting resolved with carpet cleaners on their way. We are on a 2nd floor.
We ended up leaving the beach on Thursday because at that time it was creeping into a category 4 and unsure on where it was going to hit. I wasn't going to risk my children's safety so we boarded the house, put sand bags on all entries and left the island. Stayed in town at a buddy's house which was built in the 30's like a fortress and about 10 miles from the ocean. The storm was pretty intense... it took about 150 ft of the pier which was redone back in 2004 and told then it was hurricane proof. I guess it wasn't. Lots of flooding on 1st, 2nd and 3rd street which are parallel to the ocean and water got all the way up to 12th street. Many retail stores had total damage. We got back home Saturday morning and were happy to see she was still there. Roof damage which caused the living room ceiling to partially give in. Waiting on guys to come inspect full damage report. I assume there was a lot of water coming in because I've seen water spots all over the house. It might have to be a bigger job than expected because I want to make sure no mold will grow... let's see. Tons of debris outside, my douchebag neighbor failed to trim his trees so one of them broke in half and flew all the way to my pool. Trying to figure out if I get it taken care of or just have some people fish it out and throw it back into his fucking yard.

I sold my house a couple of years ago and have been renting since. Houses where I live go for over half a million for a 1400 sq. ft. shithole so it is cheaper for me to rent and let my landlord deal with all this shit. I am very lucky to have a super cool one that jumps right in when I need it, because I take extremely good care of his property and don't mind sinking in my own money to keep it pristine.
Well, then I hope your landlord has good insurance. Damage like that can add up real quick.

I live 12-15 miles from Charleston and we lost our power for about 30 hours. We had a few trees fall in my yard and around my house. I'm so glad that it's all over with and nobody got hurt.
I'm surprised that it did so much damage in SC because once it went past us it started to get a lot more disorganized. That being said I'm glad y'all are safe.
