I was once doing cleanup at the local zoo for a community event and was near the bison pen. There was one standing close enough to the enclosure I could reach it. So I stuck my arm in there and petted its hump.

That fucker reared straight up in the air and nearly snapped my arm off! You’d have thought I had just scared the bejeezus out of it the way it jumped straight up.

So lesson learned - bison don’t want to be petted. I was 14 🤷🏻‍♂️
