Jim "Ernest" Varney tried to kill Paul "Pee Wee" Reubens via strangulation: Is this true?

If you are a child of the 80s and early 90s, then the names Pee Wee Herman and Ernest P Worrell are both likely familiar to you. What you may not know is that actors Varney (Ernest) and Reubens (Pee Wee) had a lengthy feud that may have almost culminated in murder back in '91. The two allegedly met at a gentleman's club in Tampa, Florida (because of course it happened in Florida) and tried to resolve their conflict. Things apparently went well until' Reubens saw Varney whistle at a cocktail waitress. Reubens threw the first swing at Varney, which caused the latter to retaliate in a particularly heinous manner since he was already shit-faced.

The two did sustain minor injuries during the fight but it's unclear whether or not the allegations of Varney trying to fatally finish Reubens off via manual strangulation are legit.

I also grew up in Tampa/St.Pete area in the 80's and even as a child I didn't understand the attraction to that fag on a bike.... just my take...
