This is Gwar. 2021.
8/10
Interesting documentary about the 'shock rock' band that started back in the mid '80's.
Didn't get what could be considered 'famous' but were well known via a legendary stage show. Its features a series of interviews and back stage footage with some of the main players of Gwar. It shows how they were involved and what happened to make them leave. Light hearted and not too serious.

Woodstock 99. Peace, love and rage. 2021.
4/10
Doco in which everyone 'attempts' to place blame on whoever they could.
Starts with showing the nonsense idea woodstock 69 was a awesome experience, no one got hurt, everything was perfect. If you watch the doco filmed during it, that will be your impression.
25 years later (1994) they did a show that had a bunch of older stars, some that played the original, everyone was happy.
Some moron then had the bright idea, lets get a bunch of popular bands and stage a 'modern' woodstock.
Largely the film tries and fails to push the blame, but no-one feels like its anything to do with them. The organizers take a shot at MTV, MTV blame the organizers, so they take a swipe at some of the bands.
Limp Bizkit became the ones to single out. Hard to see why.
Overall it does address certain points about the late 90's in general as being contributing factors, but it did look very much like some moron saw a way to make money based on the success of 94.

Broker. 2022. South Korea.
6/10
Two blokes obtain a baby and set out to sell it.
Heavy on dialogue, a slow film with a niceness about it. The blokes want whats best for the child, and with the mom along they try to arrange a sale to various childless couples.
The story gradually unwinds about the mother which gives it grounded sense. The two women police officers are kinda funny but dedicated to catching them in the act. Not exactly exciting but ok.

The round up. (the outlaws 2) South Korea. 2022
8/10
Two cops go to Vietnam to bring back a suspect.
Starring Ma Dong-seok, large korean actor as one of the cops, they go to get a suspect from Vietnam. While there, they find out that another wanted criminal is kidnapping, ransoming and murdering wealthy koreans.
The chase begins. Simpler idea than The Outlaws, but still quite violent with a real sense of humour. The 'bad guy' was pretty ruthless which kinda made it seem a bit weird, but the stunts combined with a not to complicated storyline make for a pretty entertaining action film.

Bedevilled. 2010. South Korea.
10 outta fucking 10.
Revenge tale, but more than that.
A single professional woman living in Seoul is told to take a holiday after a incident at her work. She goes back to an island where she lived when she was a child and reunites with her friend.
Second time watching and there is no doubt is a classic film. Slow but intense, it portrays the main lead as successful, but someone who will not 'lend a hand' to others. This is shown in the opening scene when a young woman is being bashed by some punks and she just winds up the window of her car instead of helping her. As she comes to see, her friend has had a far worse life. There are strong points being made about the way men view and treat women and it's completely reasonable. But it also makes a subtle points about older women who are in positions to help, but do nothing.
Overall, an excellent film that packs a punch. More that just a basic 'single woman gets raped, left for dead, kills those responsible' film.

Scent of a woman. 1974. Italy.
8/10.
Cranky and abusive the retired army officer goes with his young assistant for a few days of drinking, fine dining and womanizing. Some funny moments are sprinkled throughout the film. When the meet his friend who is also blind near the end, he tries and fails to kill him and himself. From there the kind of drifts out. Overall a simple film but entertaining.
The '92 film loaded a whole sub plot about the prep school kid and the trouble at the start. It ends with a loud speech by Pacino.
I prefer the original for its simplicity, 100 minute run time compared to the over two and half hour remake, and a somber end.
no english subtitles.
