Nuremberg

8/10 Pretty decent movie with Russell Crowe playing Hermann Göring during the Nuremberg trials. His actual trial lasted over 10 months and this movie gets it down to 2.5 hours. And while I am no expert, nothing in the movie struck me as obviously historically inaccurate. Indeed, I think the movie captured the sentiments of the times and the major events as they really happened. Actual concentration camp video footage bolstered the realism of the movie as well. All in all, a pretty good watch.

The secret agent. 2025. Brazil.
7/10
A bloke has to go into hiding due to a death threat by a connected businessman.
Set in 1977, it's a slow burn drama that lets the story unfold via the characters interactions. There are a couple of scenes set in present day, one that sets up why he went into hiding. No action or a ramping up of suspense give it a very natural feel. It also shows a country where violence can be bought, but the reality of it is grim and shocking.

Kanal. 1957 Poland
9/10
A group of resistance fighters in the Warsaw uprising, surround by german troops. Are forced to go thru the sewers to escape.
Well crafted war drama, has some action at the start as they are retreating, and gives each character there own attributes. Bulk of the film takes place in the tunnels, where they gradually get weaker and separated. Even thou they are all resigned to their fate at the start, the film shows how despair and hope rise and fall.

Thunderbolt and lightfoot. 1974
8/10
A older criminal teams up with a young thief to rob a bank that he and his previous fellow crims did some years before.
Well paced film with a trio of older actors that bring a quirkiness and seriousness when it counts. Balances out with a young Jeff Daniels that learns about their shared history along with the viewer. Has alot of humour throughout, with tense dramatic ending.

The Gauntlet. 1977
4/10
A cop has to take a prisoner back across state lines.
Starts off well but gets bogged down with long dialogue scenes and interesting action scenes, but they get more ludicrous as it goes on.
Similar style 'cop' to the Dirty Harry series of films. This slots in after three of them and before the two in the '80s.
