Hm. Guess i was seven. I remember the gore pretty well, it is one of my first memories of seeing a movie for "grown ups", which at that age meant anyone over 13.

My first 'grown up' was Alien when I was 13. My older brother took me! Had the best time getting the living shit scared out of me!

That movie was totally fucking awesome! Even though Lynch took some liberties with it, it had the exact same feel as when I read the books!

I committed the sin of reading the Dune sequels by Herbert's son and Kevin J Anderson. While moderately enjoyable, the writing is woefully formless!

My father smuggled me in a drive-in when I was about 10 ys (early 70's) covered under a blanket. We saw 'Once Upon A Time In The West', the german title was 'Play the song of death for me'. I was very impressed by the movie, let alone the music.

It's fucking awesome! He wrote six books but you can read the first three and leave it there imo. The next three take the story into the far future.
