Trust 9/10
Nice little bit to the plot that makes it that wee bit different

I think I might watch this.

I want to watch it because it could go one of two ways for me. Movies featuring male sex predators have the potential to severely piss me off, as I learned from attempting to watch Hard Candy. If it's not a feminist slash-revenge flick, however, I'll probably enjoy it.

The writers and the director are men, I see, but never underestimate a liberal white beta male's capacity for falling all over himself in an effort to show women and minorities how progressive he is.

I watched Trust, and found it incredibly underwhelming. It's very vanilla and sanitized. I felt as though the entire film was assembled by committee. The sex predator himself is a clean-cut, mild-mannered, non-threatening yuppie douchebag; the one and only ominous thing about him is that he's a creepy child molester. Anyone can be a creepy child molester, including fat, jobless basement-dwellers who play World of Warcraft and collect anime figurines.

I'm not a sociopath, but I haven't been a child for a long time, and I'm not a parent. I found it difficult to work up any fear or revulsion above and beyond the disgust and outrage I'd feel towards anyone who molests children. And let's face it: By any standard, the actual rape of the young girl in this movie is as tame and sanitized as possible. In real life, kids often get raped until their flesh tears and bleeds, raped to death, kidnapped and tortured for days or weeks, forced into incredibly deviant sexual activity, and often killed after the rape. Rape is always bad, but the girl escapes physically intact without some huge nightmare scene having occurred.

As for the interactions of the family (who are also vanilla and sanitized, like the rest of the movie) and how the story played out, I felt that it was all completely predictable. Angry father blames himself and sallies forth on futile manhunt for molester, mother becomes nervous wreck and cries a lot, daughter is confused at first and then becomes emotionally disturbed. Little sister just doesn't know what's going on. A tenth grader could have predicted that.

Also, no conflicts were resolved. All there is is a vague hint at "hope for the future" at the very end. All in all, I found it a waste of my time... but to each his (or her) own.

it's still good softcore porn for me but the story just didn't keep me immersed as much as the others did. Struggled to really get into it, i had been warned of this tho. I wouldn't recommend it but, different strokes for different folks.

I've tried to watch it 3-4 times but but it puts me to sleep every time, but from what I have seen so far that's a win.

Red State (3/10)

Saw the trailer for this while watching the Inbetweeners (9/10) and thought it looked good. It was meant to be Kevin Smiths first attempt at horror (ignoring Jersey Girl) and it was fucking awful, the plot seemed straight forward up to a point, but then it got all 'Kevin Smith' and started to go a bit off the plot and went downhill from there. Also seemed more like a 'thriller' than a horror.

If you're a Kevin Smith fan, dont watch this. If you're not, still dont watch it.

La Bete.

It's a French porn flick in which some chick gets raped by a werewolf with a horsecock at the end. It was definitely a movie.
