I don't know about the adults unless they are disabled but I think food should be provided for kids in schools. It's nice and cool. Not many countries do that at least not in a meaningful way without corruption. I think it's a fine thing to do. I think watching all the mass media show public schools giving kids a quality lunch and meals in US is something aspirational for many developing countries. It should not be done away with.
