2nd degree is partial thickness, and results in significant damage to the skin and usually results in scars if a large area is affected.

Looking at the kids bandages they suffered a mix of 2nd and 3rd degree. We don’t know if those bandages are after skin grafting or just to help the burns.

At least he's gonna be ok without any lasting permanent damage, other than some ugly scarring.
