I think that it is more appropriate to look at ants as a mass organism instead of many units working together. Using chemicals nature unites this fragmented being. In the case of humans, although chemicals and other unseen forces draw us together at times, egos have evolved within us that are strong enough to defeat these forces under certain circumstances.

I did a little research on ants myself recently, specifically the number of neurons in an ant's brain vs. the number of neurons in the brains of aphids, cows, and humans.

The Aphid is an extremely simple minded insect, with just 3,000 neurons in its brain. It is therefore easily herded and corralled by ants who are many orders of magnitude smarter then them having 250,000 neurons in their brains, or 83 times the complexity of the Aphid.

This difference in intelligence allows the ant to use the aphid like a farm animal, herding them and harvesting their honeydew.

The parallel to the Aphid in human society is of course the cow - an animal with 3 billion neurons in its brain. The human brain meanwhile contains 86 Billion neurons, or 28 time the complexity of the cow.

In short the ants are vastly smarter than humans in relation to the intelegence of the animals they keep.

Honestly, no. You know more about ants than I do.
As a child, I learned that they have high hopes, they have high hopes, they have high apple pie in the sky hopes.
