Serious Michigan school shooter’s parents sentenced to at least 10 years in prison

It certainly smacks of fiction. Punishing parents for something their child did boggles my mind. If he'd gone to school with nothing but kitchen knives and still managed to kill those people, would they prosecute the parents for allowing him access to the kitchen??? Our justice system is neither functional nor just.
true but there is more to the story, ethan crumbley's parents completely neglected him and his schizo thoughts.. she ignored his messages asking for help as he felt he needed to do something bad, additionally the father still allowed access to his weapons despite him being a complete schizo who had such an extensive history of wanting to hurt others... normally this would be wrong, but in this case it is completely their fault.

A bomb can be made from common household items. Would we hold the parents responsible because he ransacked the garage or kitchen and made a bomb.

Your logic is inherently flawed.

except we aren't talking about common items, we are talking about a firearm which should be locked away due to having children in the house, and they weren't.... its not necessarily because of this, but considering their child consistently expressed the urge to kill yet still left unlocked was the issue.
