Monk Hit by Pickup Truck: Luang Pho Kim Dies.
Ocurred in San Pa Tong District, Chiang Mai Province, around 7:00 AM this morning on the San Pa Tong bypass road, opposite the Nam Bo Luang police station, before the Nam Bo Luang intersection traffic light. Luang Pho Kim, a monk from Wat Nam Bo Luang, was violently struck by a pickup truck while crossing the road to return to his temple after completing his alms-gathering duties. He passed away shortly afterward.

Seems like a bunch of monks have died this exact same way in Thailand. Visibility is worst when the sun's coming up and going down. Maybe the monks could collect their alms at a different time of day & they'll stop getting picked off by drivers who say they never saw him until it was too late. Just an idea. I'm thinking they don't know that factoid about visibility impairment & angle of the sun because they rarely drive vehicles, if ever. They're all about walking.
