When my dad was teaching me to drive, he told me, “Look at where you want to go, not what you want to avoid because you’ll go where your eyes are.” He probably panicked and was thinking, “Oh shit - the pole” as he was looking at what he wanted to avoid. All he had to do was turn left a little!
