My microwave is starting to take too long to cook. Wont even warm up with the door open. Looking for a new magnetron and capacitor for it.

Reverse the polarity of the magnetron. Wired one way it makes things hotter reverse the polarity and it will make things colder.
I'm fairly sure magnetrons spin a stream of electrons through a cavity and field of electrons spiral through a magnetic field usually sorced by permanent magnet which is (in appliances not all magnetrons) external to the tube which then resonate about some antennas in that cavity which are tuned to 2.4 ghz and output to an external antenna, wave guide, and resonant cavity effecting a good swr ratio to create standing waves inside said resonant cavity and use dielectric heating to heat up food in that cavity or such and it was an always entropy positive event transferring electrocal power to RF which is conducted as high frequency/microwave electrical currents inside causing a heating effect and as such require a few things.

1. A transformer that provides filament current to the heater coil inside the magnetron, on older transformer non inverter styles usually one of the secondary taps or the HV transformer. Via thermionic electron emissions the tungsten heater coil more readily evaporates off raw electrons through a vaccum when a potential of 4000 volts is applied from the second part of the minimum basic equipment

2. A diode. A high voltage diode is used off the hv secondary of the HV transformer and acts as a second diode diode in a circuit with the magnetron and

3. A capacitor. The capacitor is charged with ~2000v when one diode is reverse biased with the incoming ac current and then discharges +2000v secondary voltage through the silicon diode which is secondary to the tube which itself acts as a vaccum tube valve aka diode.

3. The Magnetron. The magnetron( in microwave ovens) is a vaccum tube triode with 2 terminals for a filament and one for a plate. Inside this tube are resonant antennas which are vibrated by the spiral of electrons boiling off the hot filament and streaming through the vaccum inside the tube accelerated by the voltage of the transformer's hv secondary and acting as a load for the single stage cockroft Walton voltage multiplier doubling the transformer's output to 4,000 volts and accelerating the electrons to vibrate the antennas and make microwaves emitted to

4. The antenna, wave guide, and resonant cavity.
The magnetrons antenna is emitted into a wave guide which is a specific dimension to accommodate maximum efficiency in transportation of the RF generated by the magnetron to the resonant cavity of the cooking chamber.
The cooking chamber aka resonant cavity is designed to be a multiple of the frequency of the RF emitted from the waveguide which conducts the microwaves to it from the magnetron.
The cavity has a shape that allows these microwave frequency photons to bounce around inside and to do so in such a way that a non dielectric load could conduct induced currents from the E field of the microwave radiation allowing it to run induced electrical currents through the food which is cooked by resistive electrical losses.

5. Control logic
The control logic on a basic microwave can be as simple as a mechanical timer switching power to the primary of the HV transformer powering the cockroft Walton voltage multiplier/doubler formed by the magnetron tube diode and the other semiconductor diode discharging it and voltage doubling it and powering the msgnetron causing heating of the food....
Well

6 turntable/ safely features.
Modern microwave have a usual glass turntable inside. This is to evenly move food through the hot nodes and cold spots between them inside the resonant cavity. In older microwaves they had the magnetron waveguide enter from the top and the waves themselves were moved around with a stirring fan in the waveguide. Modern appliances use a turntable. The door also has 2 or more switches for safety. Even though most of the power gets reflected back into the magnetron which will actually burn it out....
So the door safety usually has at least 2 switches that make sure it's closed and latched on both door latch switches. In many cases one is a normally open microswitch and one a normally closed microswitch. The way they are wired is current will flow through one microswitch and run the turntable if it fails, which indicates tp the consumer a problem, or if the other switch fails first for any reason it runs the current through a fuse which disables the unit.

Looking at my observations here I believe the upper door latch switch is sticking and running the turntable when I open the door and eventually the other switch will fail and blow the fuse to the logic/ hv relay board. At which time I'll probably just put a bathroom fan timer or a light switch directly yo the HV side or something. Can't stand modern inverter crap....

or it may just be a light bulb or something. I don't know that much about electrons or radio/microwaves 🤷

My microwave is starting to take too long to cook. Wont even warm up with the door open. Looking for a new magnetron and capacitor for it. I'd buy a new one but things made lately tend to suck ass as most were built by temp workers during the great covid mask a thon.

Clean yer microwave that's fucking disgusting

It's the outside microwave. Sits on patio and gets rain on it. Also is burned to a crisp inside. Mostly for bagged popcorn. I have a nicer one inside I actually bother keeping looking good.
