Love them or hate them, The Beatles were one of the most influential and pioneering bands in history.

To this day, they are the best-selling music act of all time, and the most successful act in the history of the US Billboard charts.

John Lennon was the original founder of the band, and was senselessly murdered by so-called fan Mark David Chapman mere hours after signing an autograph for him. He was just forty years old.

I'm sure I read somewhere, many, many moons ago, that this wasn't about his actual mother, but more to do with Yoko, who he started calling mother after Sean was born. I could be wrong though (and it does happen from time to time). But either way... I'm a massive Lennon fan, as well as being a fan of The Beatles.

You don't have to be a fan, that's the great thing about music. But The Beatles have touched so many other artists, either directly, or indirectly, that you can not escape their influence.

Some Betles fans would rebuke you for that statement, but to do so would completely contradict everything they stood for!

I think the main reason they were so admired, revered and imitated is how very unique they were. They experimented and created music in ways that defied the norms of multiple generations.

Whether you like them or not is just fine. Yet, whether you know it or not, it's very likely that some of the music you do enjoy was inspired or affected in some way by them.

Considering Rock and Roll's very creation is credited exclusively to African Americans, I would think you'd be overjoyed that they killed it?
