Happens often here, in my hometown, Amsterdam, stupid bastards flinging open the car door without checking the road behind them.
When passing parked cars on my bicycle I keep ringing my huge ding-dong bike bell (a terrific racket!) alerting possible stupid drivers to NOT open that door till I have passed.

I remember my dopey slag of a sister doing it when I was little, sitting in the passenger seat.... threw the driver side door of her knackered old Rover WIIIDE open onto the road without looking and a nanosecond later a girl on a bike going full tilt slammed straight into the door, coming to an absolute instant stop

I saw something similar but worse on liveleak. Someone did the same thing but the rider was knocked in front of truck wheels that squished her head. By comparison, it looks like this one was lucky.

Right! The trucks are the most dangerous in this respect, the bottom frame of the door is at the same height as a cyclist's (scooter driver) head, so there you go....
