My family were one of the first settlers to the Americas in the 1600s. The all men crews were expert hunters, fisherman and plant gatherers, craftmen and veteran explorers. Controlled under 1 to 2 nobleman. Who were well capable in finding their own food sources since to most these weren't their first expeditions.

Only gullable fools would believe that European kings would send over a bunch of half wits that wouldn't know how to obtain food and shelter.

Well that's more reasonable. They sent Bear Grylls and later some child diddler tried to take all the credit so as a compromise they agreed to celebrate it as an ancient harvest festival so that the evil Bear Grylls don't take all the credit.
