I think they might have caused it in the first place. Certain vet tranquilizers can cause severe cardiovascular depression, when they OD. I wonder if they didnt give her the average amount for an adult elephant female, but she's probably been there for a long time trying to get at her young, and not actually maintaining that.Let me see if I read this correctly - they gave the mama elephant the tranquilizer, then she fainted, then they performed CPR. I doubt sincerely that they were able to compress that elephant's heart, but it's probably a good thing. I was taught that doing chest compressions on a beating heart could possibly stop it from beating.
