1. I read it was a mobile phone

2. How can a company be allowed to leave a phone on a Porch?

3. How the fuck did they know it was a phone? Both were waiting so both knew it was a phone!

So itā€™s a federal crime to tamper with US Mail but not UPS or FedEx bc they are privately owned companies?
If the recipient has a USA address it is illegal to tamper with their mail and the same laws would apply regardless of carrier for the charge with only a few exceptions but the difference is concerning punishment because it is governed by the state laws versus it being federal laws if it's via a private carrier & not the USPS. Mail freud laws utilizing private carriers is still fraud too.

Of course your opinion matters! - just not to me.
Tampering with mail is a federal offense that applies only to mail delivered by the United States Postal Service. There is no similar protection for items handled by private companies. Amazon, UPS, and FedEx are private companies.

There are laws against stealing, robbing, etc. that would apply if a person does something to the items handled by private companies or another person holding the items.
