People really shouldn’t steal electronics. Most modern devices ( like Samsung phones or Apple AirTags ) have tracking features that can allow the owner to find the device showing you its location right up to the room that they are in. Contact police and they will go with you to retrieve your item / arrest the suspect.
Good to know. (I think). If it's new you can jailbreak it before you network it, you can disable any pre-programmed location services & only (re)install apps with tracker capability set to disabled. Even with an active SIM & just a factory reset you can disable tracking & GPS too.
Those guys stealing the new phones from this store have limited time until the IMEI is blacklisted by law enforcement & carriers. I think that's only country specific so, my guess is they're reselling most likely & to another country through internet sales & overwriting the IMEI.
