accident Rock climber fell to his death

A renowned 23-year-old rock climber died live on television after falling from El Capitan in Yosemite National Park (USA).

The victim's brother said he was climbing the 730-meter "Sea of Dreams" route. He was using a bottom belay technique, which allows for solo climbing.

Apparently, he rappelled straight odd the end of his rope...
And fell a full half a mile to the ground.

Supposedly, he should've tied a knot at the end of his line to prevent it slipping out, but for whatever reason he didnt.

Its the avoidability which makes it so sharp.
I had a school friend die in a car crash because he failed to stop at junction and got t boned by a BMW.
He was 18.
All he had to do was brake.

All this climber had to do was tie a knot.

Its all so avoidable.

There's one thing about climbers falling to their deaths that makes me laugh about, they're too oblivious to the fact that gravity is a bitch. If it wasn't, everyone would be climbing mountains and cliff faces. Falling over occasionally when I'm pissed is as deadly but not that much of a height to permanently fuck me up...
