During the 19th century, when the British and Europeans colonized Africa, many aristocrats showed off their new exotic wealth with Zebra-drawn carriages. The fad didn't last too long as the Zebras were much more difficult to tame than horses.
Likewise, my great uncle the Duke of Westminster was a much simpler man. He didn't care for carriages.My great, great grandmother the Duchess of Beaufort would have utterly despised such a gauche and nouveau riche display as using zebras as a beast of burden.
