They are not that high up and the plane will not crash.

Is this the start of that one film where the soccer team crash lands in the remote Andes and then ultimatly resort to cannibalism?
They are high up enough to die, and none of them know the plane won't crash, or they won't get sucked out, or they won't hit turbulence and jostle the plane around and make the hole bigger. They know none of these things.

The pilot is aware of the issue but they will need to land the pilot would call in the emergency while descending and plotting a corse to the nearest airfield.
