I used to buy a package of store made chocolate chip cookies at Costco for $5.99. Within less than a year, they have increased to $8.99. Not buying them anymore. You? Anything you won't buy anymore for the same reason?

Not really, but I definitely noticed my grocery bill has gone up by ~25% over same time last year and certainly don't enjoy the anal reaming at the gas pump. But I'm fortunate that I can absorb that without sacrificing anything else.

For those people who can't it must suck.
Hi Murricane. :)

It's sad state of affairs in our world. So much greed. Don't look like it's going to get better either.

Hello brother :)

Some of the price increases I can accept as being legitimately driven by the market but there's a lot of fuckery going on. I'm loathe to suggest that the government go in and try to control the prices because that just doesn't work but there needs to be some sort of consumer protection against excess profiteering.

And no, it isn't going to get better its only going to get worse....in particular the cost & availability of food. I don't care which side someone is on in the Russian/Ukrainian conflict but you can't argue that what Putin is doing is going to have a dramatic effect on the 2022 central & eastern European agricultural production. Be it people local to the region or those dependent on it (i.e. Africa, the middle east) there's going to be starvation because of it.

I'd like to believe that being in North America we can support ourselves with what's grown/raised here but be prepared for continued price increases and reduced selection from foreign sources. Re the latter I'm even seeing it already with some products like pickled vegetables, sausage and cheese I enjoy from places like Poland, Hungary, etc.

Makes sense. Crazy world we live in.

Nothing, thank jezeus. It's serious inflation, though.
It would def hurt me when I was younger. There were times then when I had less than $50 in the bank.
Inflation is just a hidden tax on everyone, it's planned, and it'll go on. Sucks to be just getting by and now this.

I wouldn't name a star after anyone........ they are astronomical.
I bought a star once. The person loved the gift even though it doesn't mean shit. To answer the question though. My spending hasn't changed all that much. Besides maybe getting less snacks at the grocery and buying more things that'll make meals that last a couple days.

It is cold here and I have the thermostat set at 65 because the gas and electric bills have gone up 40% in 6 months. I also had to stop buying GOOD organic coffee and had to start drinking store brand and it SUCKS.
