The world feels boring or am I boring

The world feels boring because it runs on the same loop every single day — people wake up, work for money, spend money, chase more of it, or fall into darker cycles of selling and buying drugs just to numb the routine. Life becomes nothing more than surviving paycheck to paycheck, searching for a way out that rarely exists. In other parts of the world, people live just to die under corrupted systems, where survival itself is the only goal, and their suffering feeds the greed of those in power. Meanwhile, some of us are told we’re “free,” but is that freedom real or just the illusion the government wants us to believe? Why should we think only within the limits they set? Why is there no true escape? They give us distractions — trends, entertainment, social media — all to keep us from noticing how trapped we are. Life feels like an easy-to-read book, predictable in every chapter, yet no one ever really achieves anything except circling back into the same loop, living for “something” that may never even exist. And maybe that’s the cruelest part — that we’re convinced this cycle is meaning, when in reality, it’s just survival disguised as purpose
I couldn't agree with you more than anything.. What a fucking life.

save the drama.webp

Have a child.

Suddenly the whole thing makes sense. I went through my 20's in an existential crisis and then had a child. Suddenly the meaning of life was laid out for me more clearly than anything I'd ever read. All in the split second after I first saw her...

Don't most people have that crushing realisation when they're you know.. about 13..
Pretty sure that's when I checked out of life based on those assumptions 😅

For alot of people, that is enough though you know... not everyone gets so nihilistic about it all. And let's face it alot of people pour themselves into family as their reason/meaning to carry on. Which seems quite legit. (Even if in the grand scheme of things there is no grand scheme and it's pointless..)
I think children save the majority from overthinking things beyond their control. And gives them bloody good reason to care about life.
If you're not able to or going to.. that's already kinda bleak.

Personally I think it's a shit mindset
And there's so much that's still fascinating about existence itself

But the way we have the world set up, and the way society is (essentially globally, even with cultural differences.. we're already basically homogenised in structure)

The normal life. The dream.. the thing we're generally taught to want early on..
If it looks hollow and empty to you. Life's going to be pretty difficult.

Everyone knows though
It's not like.. a revelation, maybe most people just ignore that sort of thinking or it doesn't actually bother them

You're probably a miserable fucker (sorry)
So all of these negatives just seem that much more glaring and in your face..

But as within so without and all that.

You know
Some people will have a few days on a yacht and it makes the week better. They enjoy it.. they enjoy the sunsets, the hammock nettings. They like the cocktail glass, with the umbrella. The sunhat and the companionship.
Some people are genuinely happy to sit on a computer all day and play games, knowing full well there's a "whole world" out there, they just don't care.
Some people are happy beggars
... and can see riches in passers by that aren't commercial.
There's ALOT that people enjoy, which makes life bearable, hell even great.

You could just be depressed and nihilistic..
Which isn't really on the world, but once it sets in its very difficult to feel outside of.

It's kind of true the whole "Some have nothing and are happy, some have It all and are depressed"
It's not really that your observations are that different
But if the chemistry just doesn't work
And everything fails to illicit an innate emotional response in you, for better or worse! (Because even a moan can be good)
Then well...
You could be shown the point
Or placed on the road to happiness
And it would still look bleak..

I've been totally fucked for ages again myself... 🙃
But I don't think the world's any better or worse than it was
It's always seemed pointless and you really won't ultimately mean anything to the world

You kinda just have to make each day the best you can for yourself and those you care about (if any)
People have been searching for "a reason/the meaning or a point" to things for ever
And will do for ever...
Whilst just keeping everything ticking over day in day out

Everyone has advice
Everyone does their thing
Most people can show you what works for them
Yada yada yada
You make your own reasons eh, and if you really can't find just one..
Well...
🫤

(Maybe when there were less people and we weren't so technologically and intellectually advanced, without mass social media and the whole "seen it all but been nowhere" issue that's occurred.
Life still seemed to have some magic and wonder to it. Beyond survival... or "grinding")

When you boil it all down there is no 'meaning' to life. You need to find your own or create your own,

For some people it's work. Which is great until they retire.

For some it's diving deep, dark caves (I've recently watched 'Deeper' on Netflix about the Wet Mules and their dives to ever greater depths in darkness)

For me a moment came when, depressed with the onset of winter, I started x country ski touring and camping out in the snow. Suddenly I looked forward to winter.

There is a whole world of books out there on every subject you could imagine and on many subjects you couldn't.

Of course for these pursuits to be meaningful you need to give them meaning. As in the greater scheme of things we are on a tiny blob of matter in a great vacume going around a little star, one of untold billions going around our galexy once every 100 000 years or so, which in turn is part of our local cluster of galaxies doing their own gravitational dance etc etc etc.

You are over thinking it all my friend... get a pet or have a kid or get a hobby.

Life is what you make it! If you feel this way, I personally suggest you have a screening through your PCP for some antidepressants and maybe see an analyst. They live for being paid to listen to other’s BS.
